History
Reliance Student Transportation (Reliance) was re-established in 2016. Reliance finds its roots in York County dating back to the 1950’s, when Carl Caskey, a local farmer, began transporting students for the Southern York County School District. The Caskey family grew Reliance [Motor Coach Company, Inc.] to over 100 school buses and serviced York County school districts including Southern York, Spring Grove Area, West York Area and York Suburban. Reliance became a household name in student transportation known for safe, creative, courteous and reliable service.
In 1997, at the age of 33, John Polli purchased Reliance from the Caskey family.
In 1998, Reliance was awarded the contract for Dallastown Area school district who had decided to outsource its student transportation for the first time.
In 1999, Reliance purchased Forry’s Transportation a locally owned, family operated school bus contractor, known for safe, creative, courteous and reliable service and who also operated part of the Spring Grove Area school district.
In 2004, Reliance was awarded the student transportation contract of Central York school district. At that time Reliance operated over 300 school buses and vans and employed approximately 350 drivers.
In 2006, John decided to sell Reliance to a national school bus contractor.
After watching safe, creative, courteous and reliable student transportation service to York County school districts fade over ten years, John decided it was time to re-establish the Reliance brand. John, along with his team of local, York County based, experienced transportation managers are excited and honored to bring the Reliance brand back to student transportation in York County.
